It can be stressful planning all of the details of your big day, from hiring vendors such as photo and music, to picking flowers and writing invites. Once engaged, it’s a time filled with anticipation, joy and love. A lot of tasks come to light, and sometimes with the stress, it can become easy to quickly overlook this special stage of your lives. Don’t let it pass by. Capture this moment. It can often be just as exciting as your wedding day.

There are numerous benefits of taking part in an engagement shoot. Here are a few reasons you shouldn’t pass up the opportunity.

 Capture the excitement.

As time inches closer to the big day, you start to find yourself getting busier and busier. With the excitement of the proposal and visions of the future are still fresh in your mind, early in the engagement is the best time to shoot The emotion will glow in your photos.

Relax and get creative.

There are many fun ways to plan the shoot. Start with the location and pick a place that means something to both of you. It can be where you got engaged, a first date or a memorable date like where you two met. You have an opportunity to take some truly unique photos, different from the usual, so make good use of it!

Many uses for photos

These photos aren’t limited to a picture frame! Many are using their photos in fun ways. Use them for save-the-date cards, receptions seating charts and table indicators, wedding programs and guest books!

Practice for the big day.

On your wedding day you’ll be surrounded by cameras, which can be nerve-wracking. With all the events of the day, it’s great to practice and learn to let loose. If you’re shy, the engagement shoot is a great opportunity to build confidence and get comfortable in front of the camera. It’s best to get that anxiety out of the way in advance.

Time with your photographer.

This shoot can be a great trial run for your photographer. It gives them a chance to see how you interact and learn about your personalities. You might be goofy or serious, and this time will show how much direction you’ll need or want. It’s a great time to learn about your love story, chat about your wedding plans, and be able to communicate what you like and don’t like, as well as your preference for angles, expressions, lighting, and editing styles. All this will allow them to tailor the photos and make your images more personal and to your liking.

Getting to know your photographer.

It’s great to have your photographer get to know you, but it’s more important that you get to know them and their shooting style. It will be great practice as it will be very similar to how they direct you on the wedding day. This way, you’ll know exactly what to expect. Ask for tips about planning out the schedule. Meet Kate

- nicole G.

I cannot imagine our special day without her. From the moment I inquired back in August of 2020, to our wedding day October 2021, Kate was with us every step of the way. She was amazing at communicating, answering my (many) questions, and making us feel so comfortable in front of the camera! Throughout this process, she\ became a great friend as well. On our wedding day, she made sure we stayed on track with timing, and made it a priority to ensure my husband and I were taken care of. Her positive energy, flexibility, and expertise made the day so much fun and so memorable. Kate perfectly captured our love--her photographs are of the highest quality and have unique touches that represent each of her clients. We are so very thankful that we had Kate be apart of our wedding day. She went above and beyond to make our day everything and more!

" The best decision I made was having Kate as our wedding photographer!"

We were so lucky to have Katelynn as our photographer! She was truly amazing to work with! We found Katelynn through a friend who had previously booked her for her wedding. Wedding photos were really important to me and I wanted memories that we could cherish for the rest of our lives. After seeing her work, we knew that we wanted her to capture our wedding day! She made coordinating locations and poses stress free. We had a large bridal party and were a little worried about pictures being chaotic, but Katelynn was so patient with everyone and made it look like a breeze! Her kindness radiated all day and our families could not say enough good things about her. She was so great at making us feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera! She also made my sunset and veil photo dreams come true with her amazing photography skills! We are so in love with every picture that she took! She captured the best memories for us and we can’t recommend her enough!
