First attempt at a canoe engagement session, and I think we pulled it off b-e-a-utifully!! Erica & Mike invited me out to their parents house to take photos on their lake, it was an overcast day (yes, we did get sprinkled on), and it made for gorgeous lighting! The cutest part about this is that Mike actually popped the big question on this exact lake- not too long ago! Erica & Mike love to go fishing, if it be on the fishing boat, kayaking or the pontoon, they love the outdoors, so we had to incorporate as much as possible into their photo shoot!
He had such an adorable way of asking her to marry him, it involved fishing in a fishing boat together, a bobber, a ring, and of course the big questions!! Thank goodness she said yes, and I was able to capture these special moments with them on the same lake where their lives changed forever~ (so romantic, I know- I know, I am such a sap!) I just loved when I met with them a while ago, Mike telling me the story the whole story, and how they both just lit up! Their love is so genuine, and authentic, I know I say this a lot about my clients, but it’s the truth! (seriously, can’t you just tell)
Last, but not least, I have to stem off a little bit about their love for one another, because it’s just that wonderful!! Well, a lot of times new clients have never been in front of a camera before, especially together, so direction, posing, and guiding them is a BIG DEAL or you’ll end up with super stiff photos (eeek, no thanks!) I love this part of the session, it’s actually really fun, and gives me a chance to get to know my clients on a whole other level, but this time was different, Erica & Mike were SO different! I barley had to give any direction at all, they were completely themselves, did all these poses on their own, interacted as if I wasn’t there, and they obviously ROCKED!!! I always try to keep everything as natural as possible during my session, but of course that isn’t always the case, and every couple/session is different. So to make a long story-longer- I truly do thank the Lord when he presents me with love like this…..it always reminds me why I love what I do so much, I just LOVE, LOVE!! <3
Well, their big day is right around the corner, and I cannot wait to capture one of the happiest days in their lives!! It is going to be such a beautiful wedding, and I am so honored to be apart of it, thanks again Erica & Mike for choosing me to photograph such a special memory!
